SPCC people and friends will be traveling to Denver to view the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Museum of Nature and Science on Monday, July 16. (On Monday afternoons there is a 20% discount on group tickets – Adults = $7.20, Seniors = $6.40, ages 3-18 = $4.80. You will also need to purchase museum admission.) This will be an awesome opportunity to see some pieces of history that have made a significant impact on Biblical studies. If you would like to be part of this outing, please contact the Church office by Thursday (6/21) so reservations can be made for our group. The Chuch office can be contacted at 719-836-2770.
Next Monday, June 25, from 6:30-7:00 pm Jim Nibbelink will present an introduction to the Dead Sea Scrolls. Content will include the discovery and first public notice of the scrolls, the nature of the various kinds of scrolls found, who may have copied and stored the scrolls and the importance of the scrolls for contemporary Christians. This will be an informative gathering for anyone who is interested in learning more about the scrolls and hopefully will be helpful for anyone who will be viewing the scrolls on July 16.
Again, please contact the Church office at 719-836-2770 if you would like to view the Dead Sea Scrolls on July 16 by Thursday (6/21) so we can make our reservation. Thanks!

Our First Summer Study Series will be Bridge Building 101. As Christ’s church we find ourselves in a unique role to bring God’s healing and wholeness to the division and polarization we see in the world around us. Whatever our political or theological convictions may be, God can work through us to be people who build bridges across divisions. In this three session study we will use a number of resources, including Allen Hilton’s book, “A House United: How the Church Can Save the World,” to reflect on and build up courage to live into our role as bridge builders. We will meet beginning in August. Watch here for upcoming dates.
The best price I have found on “A House United” is $11.55 (with a bulk discount from Cokesbury). Please contact the Church office (719-836-2770) if you would like us to order you a copy of the book. (For those who prefer ebooks, here is a link to the kindle version on Amazon.)
If the cost of the book might keep you from participating in this study, please let us know and we can use some of our resources to get you a copy of the book. Thanks!
